Thunivu movie box office collections; Ajith Kumar starrer has a Very Good growth on Saturday

The film grossed Rs. 11.25 crore or so in Tamil Nadu yesterday, bringing its total to almost Rs. 49 crore in the state. The film has held up well in the pre-holiday period and has managed to pick itself up again with the holiday period now starting. The official holiday period will run until Tuesday, but there will still be a post-holiday push in some regions for a few more days. By Tuesday, the film will likely fetch around Rs. 80 crore in Tamil Nadu.

Wednesday – Rs. 28.50 crores

Thursday – Rs. 11 crores

Friday – Rs. 10 crores

Saturday – Rs. 13.50 crores

Total – Rs. 63 crores

Thunivu may not emerge higher grossing than Varisu, but it is in a better financial position given the reasonable costs involved. However, how it holds up after the holiday period remains to be seen, as that will ultimately determine where the film ends up. Outside of Tamil Nadu, the film did well in Karnataka with Rs. 7.25 crore in four days, giving Varisu a tough fight. Elsewhere, the film was released after its first day, which itself was very low.
